Dear Laguna Road Families,
I hope you've had an amazing summer vacation and feel excited to start the 2020-2021 school year. This is my 3rd year as the proud principal of Laguna Road and I look forward to an exciting year ahead!
Our theme for the 2020-2021 school year will be "Blazing the trail and rising to the challenge together!" With a caring and committed staff, supportive parent community, and resilient kids, I am confident that we can overcome any challenges that come our way and design a program that continues to equip our students with future ready skills.
When we transitioned into distance learning abruptly last spring, our teachers and support staff worked diligently to ensure that our students had all the materials, resources, and support needed to actively participate in distance learning. Our teachers and staff were tasked with learning how to teach in a new and unfamiliar way while balancing the various challenges of working from home and caring for their own families. Along the journey, there were many learning and growth opportunities. I am extremely proud of our staff for their positive attitude, collaborative spirit, and always having our students at the forefront of our minds.
As we start the 2020-2021 school year, the health and wellbeing of our students, staff and community is a top priority. Therefore, in accordance with Governor Newsom’s orders and SB 98, we will be starting the 2020-2021 school year in a full distance (online) learning format. Please keep in mind that distance learning will be very different this fall than it was last spring as there are specific requirements for daily interaction with teachers, attendance and participation tracking, social emotional learning, interventions and accommodations, enrichment opportunities and more. We thank you in advance for your patience and support as we navigate these expectations and design a program that supports a positive learning experience for all students and addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students.
